The life of the lone Blackhawk fan.

Thinking "differently" is nothing new.
When I was growing up in a family full of hardcore Maple Leaf's fan's, I absolutely had to cheer for the Blackhawks. The truth is that I didn't truthfully care which team I cheered for, I think I care more about the graphics on the goalie masks that I enjoyed sketching. I use the example to express my constant desire to look at something different than what's in front of me.

I've always challenged everything, absolutely everything and I likely drove my parent's nuts. In current society the media seems to control "acceptable" behavior, everything from acceptable product usages to acceptable means of modern medicine, health and wellness.

What I don't understand is why those of us who do challenge the views of the masses and challenge us to look at alternative views are made to feel irrational or irresponsible. I'm talking about everything from strict theological views and historical rhetoric involving scriptural interpretations to views surrounding naturalist health practices.

I speak in general terms but from a very personal prospective. Not only have I challenged the theological perceptions of sexuality and gender roles but I see other important aspects of society I seek to challenge. I look at aspects of the medical community such as vaccinations and antibiotic use in the same light. All too often we are told what to think how to act and respond to a variety of situations. When we challenge those views we are often met with a lot of opposition.

Is it not safe to say that in the same ways we challenge historical theological doctrine to bring it in line with current social structures could we not also look at the same with modern medicine.

My frustration comes when someone like myself makes a stand to choose an alternative view, an alternative route and I'm then treated as if I've chosen a ridiculous path with no educational basis behind it. But again I challenge that too often we accept what is common, what it habit rather than moving into the unknown. Be it faith, medicine, life, health etc.

Never be afraid to think for yourself, to challenge things and come to your own conclusions in your own educated fashion.
